Last Monday, I had my second mentor visit with Dr. Correa. She and I focused on the insanity defense specifics, as in the legal standards and the famous cases which led to their creation as well as the components of determining if the defendant meets specific criteria of the given jurisdiction. Following this meeting, I worked primarily on my original work. Most of my actual work was done by myself, and Dr. Correa helped me specifically with comprehending everything that I had been researching. By the beginning of last week, I was essentially complete with my research for original work and I had already established the format of my work. Therefore, most of my week was piecing together my publication on the insanity defense and figuring out the proper design.
Unfortunately, there is still some information that I plan on implementing in my original work, but I have yet to fully understand it confidently with the help of my mentor. I will be updating my work over the break to prepare for the research showcase. I also completed my set-up and summary, which detailed my progress and thought process during the time of constructing my original work. I forced myself to work efficiently during the week so that I could have a more relaxed week after.
