After my two weeks of winter break, I am now even more prepared for the research showcase in which I will be presenting my original work and overall research done over the past semester. Looking back, I have already learned so much new information about the entire field of forensic psychology, as well as other skills relating to professionalism. Alongside my journey in Independent Study and Mentorship, I have been tackling college applications and receiving results. I have been so pleased with the work I have accomplished so far, which has undoubtedly influenced and enhanced my attitude towards my future. Over break, I have met with my mentor a couple of times in which we continued our discussion of my original work and furthered my understanding of the specifics of psychological tests and how to properly apply them. I truly could not have asked for a better professional to look up to and have guiding me. I have learned to combat my hesitation and fear of opening up and sharing my work to others, especially to those who are more educated on the topic. Dr. Correa reassures me that it is okay and perfectly normal to not know everything at my age, but she also treats me with great respect and sees me as a serious student wanting to know more.
