I started last week by discussing the topic of personality disorders and the related issue of psychopathy. This evening, I will meet with Dr. Correa to discuss with her the Psychopathy Checklist - Revised. This was part of our previous discussion, but this week, she is able to bring a copy of the official checklist. In addition to this, I plan to focus on a few notable instances of severe mental illness in criminal cases. I believe that this will help me with the development of my vignettes for my final product, as I can understand the connection between the individual’s situation and the standards I have learned over the last few months.
I would like to spend the rest of this week focusing strictly on building my profiles for the forensic mental health assessments I am conducting. I do not want them all to be based on the most extreme crimes, because this does not reflect the majority of mentally ill defendants. Nonetheless, I want to create vignettes that have a lasting impact on others and myself.
Last week, I reflected on my product progress in my assessment. I feel confident in where I stand currently, because I do feel challenged but am not struggling.
