This past week was stationary, with an exception to Friday. As the marking period progresses, I have become more and more stressed out by the fact that so many ISM students at Frisco, around 75%, have already confirmed their mentor. As I have already come to realize, forensic psychologists tend to be harder to meet with than most professionals in other, more common fields. As I started to prepare my research speech, which is this Thursday, I found myself comparing my work and progress to those around me. I kept having doubtful feelings until I was able to reassure myself that comparing myself directly to my peers is not an accurate nor fair representation of my progress. I have learned so much already, and I have so much more to accomplish and experience.
On Friday, I drove down to Sundance Square in Fort Worth to meet with Dr. Correa, who is a forensic psychologist at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. She is an amazing and respected professional. Not only did she teach me, she has inspired me to push new ideas for my original work. I was so pleased with her and the help and knowledge she gave to me. I felt great fulfillment from this experience and have gained a new perspective on the field.
